Description

American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift ER RN to work charge with required charge and ER experience for a critical access hospital.

Details

• Critical access hospital with 12 staffed beds (19 total)
• Emergency Department position, generally no inpatient assignments
• Patient ratio of 1:5 for ER patients
• Averages 1-4 ER patients per night
• Night shift, 3x12 hours, 1800-0630
• 6 day block schedule with 8 days off
• Rotating every other weekend required
• No on-call requirements
• No floating required outside of scope
• Uses Cerner charting system
• Free parking available

Requirements

• Active RN license (KS or Compact) required
• BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications required
• 1-2 years of charge and ER experience required
• Cerner charting experience preferred
• Community and teaching hospital experience preferred
• Skilled in pediatric and adult emergency care including abdominal pain, asthma, burns, head injury, seizures, and infections
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and starting/maintaining IVs
• Knowledge of emergency medications and IV vasopressors
• Skilled in EKG/ECG acquisition and dysrhythmia interpretation
• Experience with triage and isolation precautions/PPE
• Ability to manage and apply splints

Additional Information

• Will work in a charge nurse capacity during scheduled shifts
• Responsible for care across a wide range of emergency conditions including cardiac, neurological, psychiatric, and pediatric cases
• Skilled in procedural sedation administration/monitoring and BiPAP/CPAP management preferred
• Experience identifying and reporting neglect or abuse preferred
• Scrubs of any color permitted
