Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiac Telemetry position requiring a TN or compact RN license and prior medical cardiac nursing experience.
Details
- Acute care setting on a 32-bed Medical Cardiac Telemetry unit
- Patient population includes medical cardiac diagnoses such as CHF
- Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5 on days and 1:6 on evenings
- RNs required to titrate drips including Amiodarone, Heparin, Insulin, and Cardizem
- Charge nurse present on each shift and takes a patient assignment
- PCTs/nurse aides on unit at a 12-15 patient ratio handling vitals, bathing, blood glucose checks, phlebotomy, and ADLs
- RNs troubleshoot High Flow and BiPap (under 24 hours) respiratory equipment as needed
- No dedicated tele techs; monitoring is virtual and RNs read their own strips each shift using GE tele monitors
- Uses EPIC EMR
- 12-hour day shifts, 7a-7p, with every other weekend or less required
- Self-scheduling and block scheduling available
- Holiday coverage required on a rotating basis
- On-call required only as a last resort for travelers
Requirements
- Active TN or compact RN license required, pending licenses not accepted
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA) required, pending certifications not accepted
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Medical cardiac nursing experience required
- BSN not required for this position
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and rehire eligibility
- Copy of driver's license required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide direct nursing care to medical cardiac patients including CHF management on a telemetry unit
- Responsible for reading and interpreting own telemetry strips each shift
- Collaborate with a charge nurse and PCT support staff on each shift
- First-time travelers may be considered for this position
