Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring telemetry skills and an active OH or compact RN license.
Details
- Mixed unit PCU, Med Surg Tele, and Med Surg setting
- Adult patient population with diagnoses including CHF, COPD, colorectal conditions, GI bleeds/SBO, COVID, pneumonia, and cystic fibrosis
- Patient ratio of 1:4 on all shifts
- Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (18:45-7:15)
- Every other weekend required, with Friday and Saturday evenings on night shifts
- Floating required within service line and between multiple facility locations
- Float units may include Neuro/Stroke, Cardiac, Orthopedic, Trauma, Oncology, General Surg, Uro/Vascular, and Observation
- No on-call requirement
- No block scheduling accommodations
- Uses Epic for computerized charting
Requirements
- Active RN license (OH or compact) required
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 1 year of acute care experience required
- Epic charting experience required
- Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, PICC line management, blood product administration, and starting IVs
- Experience with feeding tube care and management required
- Experience with surgical drain care required
- Experience with insulin drip titration required
- Experience with nasal cannula and non-invasive airway management required
- Wound care and wound vac experience required
- TPN titration experience required
- Experience interpreting and managing cardiac dysrhythmias required
- Two professional references from within the last 24 months required, including one supervisor reference
- Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required
Additional Information
- Provide telemetry-level nursing care to a mixed adult population with cardiac monitoring responsibilities
- Facility is a Level I trauma center and the largest acute care hospital in the Toledo metropolitan area
- First-time travelers are accepted, especially those with prior Level 1 or 2 trauma experience
- Local candidates within a 50-mile radius are not accepted
- Requests for time off greater than 7 days require management approval
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Previous permanent staff must have been separated from employment for at least 1 year before applying
- Schedules may be adjusted with two weeks' notice from the facility to balance staffing needs
