Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Nurse for a PCU/telemetry boarding unit position requiring an active IN or compact RN license and 2 years of PCU experience.

Details

• Acuity-adaptable ED boarding unit caring for patients ranging from MS to PCU/ICU level care until discharge or transfer to an inpatient unit
• Patient ratios range from 1:4-6 depending on acuity and patient type
• Team nursing model with RN/LPN or RN/CNA staffing depending on acuity
• Night shift, 4x12 hours (19:00-7:30)
• Required to work every other weekend
• No on-call responsibilities
• Float required to inpatient PCU units and affiliate hospitals as needed
• Cerner EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active RN license (IN or Compact) required in hand prior to start
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of PCU experience required
• Cerner charting system experience required
• Must have completed 3-4 previous travel assignments
• 2 supervisor references required
• SSN and DOB required for consideration
• Proof of ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program required

Additional Information

• Provide care to boarding ED patients with MS, PCU, and ICU-level acuity, delegating tasks to LPNs and CNAs as needed
• Manage cardiac and vasoactive drips without titration, PCA administration, and telemetry monitoring
• Perform IV therapy, central line and PICC line care, blood product administration, and ventilator care
• Care for patients with CVA and manage IV insulin protocols
• Required to work 2 of the 3 major holidays
• Local candidates are not accepted for this position
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this assignment
• Past permanent or PRN employees of the health system must wait 12 months before applying as a traveler
• Returning IU Health travelers with 12 months of accrued travel employment must complete a designated break before reapplying
• Up to 5 days of non-holiday RTO can be auto-approved, with additional time requiring facility approval
• Floating is required for all travelers within the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals
