Description
American Traveler is seeking a Night Shift ICU RN requiring 1 year of ICU experience and an active MD or compact RN license.
Details
- ICU setting caring for adult through geriatric patients
- Common diagnoses include sepsis, pneumonia, MSOF, surgical, neuro, CVA, cardiac/pulmonary, and renal conditions
- Involves specialized procedures such as bronchoscopy, PUG, tracheostomy care, and surgical cases
- Patient ratio of 1:2, up to 1:3 for lower acuity patients
- Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 20:00 to 08:30
- Requires working every third weekend, approximately 2 weekends per 8-week contract
- Floating required within specialty and to lower acuity units as needed, with travelers typically floated first
- No pre-scheduled on-call requirements
- Uses Epic EMR
Requirements
- Active RN license (MD state or Compact) required
- Current BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and CPI certifications required
- Minimum 1 year of ICU experience required
- Community hospital experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Prior charge nurse experience preferred
- Strong ICU skills across cardiovascular, respiratory, neurological, renal, and GI specialties
Additional Information
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Holiday coverage required as scheduled
- Candidates residing more than 50 miles from the facility are eligible for travel consideration; those under 50 miles may not be accepted unless locals are specifically permitted
- First-time travelers with strong experience and skills will be considered
- Returning travelers must have a break of at least 6 months since their last assignment with the health system
- Former staff members must wait 12 months before returning as travelers
- Maximum RTO request is 7 days, and requests of more than 4 consecutive days require an added week at the end of the contract
- Facility typically allows one extension before requiring a 6-month break before returning to the same unit
