Description
American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg-Orthopedics RN with prior travel and Charge RN experience for a night shift assignment requiring NC or compact RN licensure.
Details
- 29-bed unit caring for orthopedic and medical-surgical patients from adulthood through geriatrics
- Telemetry monitoring available with high patient volumes for total joint replacements, fracture repairs, and kyphoplasties
- Moderate volume of other surgical procedures and inpatient/24-hour observation medical patients
- On-unit physical therapy gym for patient rehabilitation
- Night shift, 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
- Every other weekend required (Saturday and Sunday)
- No on-call requirements
- Floating required as needed, including to any Cone Health campus
- Charge RN shifts required as needed, with charge nurses carrying a patient load
- Typical patient ratio of 1:5-6
- Uses Epic EMR
Requirements
- Active NC or compact RN license required at time of consideration
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- Previous Charge RN experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and central/peripheral line management required
- Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, and tracheostomy management preferred
- Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE required
- Experience interpreting cardiac dysrhythmias and telemetry monitoring required
- Current driver's license required to verify address
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care to orthopedic, ortho trauma, total joint replacement, and medical-surgical patients
- Work alongside a mixed team of RNs and LPNs in a fast-paced environment
- All RNs must pass a compliance EKG exam with up to two attempts allowed
- Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility; no local rates apply
- RTO must be submitted with the initial application, as post-submission RTO requests are not accepted
- Schedules are built every six weeks based on unit demand with set weekend schedules only
