Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Surgical ICU position at a rural hospital, requiring a TX or compact RN license and at least 2 years of critical care experience

Details

• Surgical ICU setting within a 12-bed unit at a rural hospital
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 18:30 to 07:00
• ICU patient ratio of 1:2
• Floats to Medical/Surgical, rehab, and CDU units when census is low, with ratios up to 1:6 during float assignments
• Required to work 4 weekend shifts per 4-week period
• Meditech EMR experience preferred

Requirements

• Active TX or compact RN license required
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of critical care experience required
• Surgical ICU experience required
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy, arterial line management, central line and PICC line care, blood product administration, and port access/management
• Experienced in ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and respiratory therapies including BiPAP/CPAP and HFNC
• Skilled in titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips and managing dysrhythmias
• Experience with CVA/acute stroke management
• Nursys license verification required

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to critically ill patients in a rural ICU setting
• Orientation provided prior to floating to other units
• Must work 3 of the 5 winter holidays
• Located in Kerrville, Texas's wine country, about 1 hour from San Antonio
• Facility conducts its own on-site drug screening, including marijuana testing, upon arrival
• Must reside within a 50-mile radius of the facility; local candidates not accepted
• Facility housing available
• Travel pairs considered on a case-by-case basis
