Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Stepdown/PCU unit position requiring 2+ years of current specialty experience and KY or compact licensure.
Details
- 34-bed Stepdown/PCU unit setting
- 1:5 patient ratios
- Meditech EMR used, experience preferred
- Day shift schedule rotating between 3x12 and 4x12 hour shifts (7:00-19:30)
- Schedule totals 84 hours per two-week pay period
- Float required within scope of practice
- Every other weekend required
- Blocked scheduling cannot be accommodated
Requirements
- Active RN license, KY or compact, in hand at time of consideration
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
- AVADE Level I & II certification preferred
- 2+ years of current Stepdown/PCU experience required
- 3-6 months of Level IV Trauma (or above) experience preferred
- Experience with IV therapy, central and peripheral line care, and blood product administration
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and management
- Experience managing cardiac drips required; titration skills preferred
- Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, and tracheostomy management
- Experience with wound care and wound vac management
- Experience with IV insulin protocols
- Valid driver's license required, with address matching permanent address on file
- 2 professional references required (1 Charge or higher, 1 Supervisor), completed within the last year
- Copy of certifications required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care to a diverse Stepdown/PCU population including cardiac, neurological, respiratory, and renal patients
- Manage patients with conditions such as CVA, post-TPA care, seizure disorders, and traumatic brain injury
- Care for patients requiring epidural analgesia, heparin protocols, and PCA management
- Support ortho trauma and total joint replacement patients
- Assist with pre/post cardiac catheterization care including sheath removal
- Monitor chemotherapy administration when applicable
- Orientation is provided on a bi-weekly basis
- Must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be considered; local candidates not accepted
- Up to 7 days of RTO considered if submitted upfront; no changes accepted once approved
- Must work either a major or minor shift on every holiday
- Travel pairs are accepted on a limited basis and will not be scheduled on the same shift or unit
- Previous travelers must take a minimum 6-month break after one year before returning to this system
- Middle name required for consideration
