Description

American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg RN for a night shift acute care position requiring a WV or compact license and at least 2 years of experience.

Details

• 30-bed acute care Medical-Surgical overflow unit
• 12-hour night shifts with weekends as scheduled (approximately half of total weekends)
• Patient ratio of 1:6, occasionally up to 1:7
• Common diagnoses include CHF, COPD, cellulitis, R/O, cholecystitis, appendicitis, pneumonia, urosepsis, and AKI
• Telemetry monitoring available, watched remotely by monitor techs
• Intermittent BIPAP support used; no ventilator management required
• RNs titrate heparin drips based on aPTT results
• Unit staffed with a charge RN and PCTs for support
• Uses EPIC EMR
• Floating required as needed based on census, with external travelers floated first
• No standby or on-call requirements

Requirements

• Active WV or compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• BLS (AHA) certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• BSN not required for this position

Additional Information

• Navy blue scrubs required
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius to qualify for travel rate; no local candidates accepted
• Returning travelers must have taken a 2-year break since last working at any WVU Medicine facility
• Travelers are limited to 1 year of cumulative work within the WVU Medicine system before requiring a 2-year break
• Holiday coverage required as scheduled
• All candidates must interview directly with the unit manager prior to placement
