Description
American Traveler is hiring a PACU RN for a 13-week acute care assignment requiring 2 years of experience, ortho experience, and a NM or compact RN license.
Details
- Acute care setting in the Preop/PACU department with 4 preop beds and 6 PACU beds
- Nurse rotates between Preop, PACU Phase 1, Phase 2, and Discharge
- Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:1 in Preop and 1:1 to 2 in PACU
- Common cases include ortho, gyn, urology, pain management, podiatry, general surgery, and endoscopy
- Uses TruBridge - Evident and CPSI EMR systems
- Preop shift starts at 0530, PACU has a flexible start between 0800-0900, with shift lengths of 5-8 hours
- Day shift schedule, Monday through Friday
- Call required approximately once per week
- Weekend call required one weekend per month, running Friday end of shift through Monday start of shift, requiring on-call nurse to remain in PACU as second nurse
- May be included in holiday call rotation
- Call response time within 1 hour if living outside of Artesia
- Occasional floating to help with tasking on the floor within Preop/PACU when census is low
- Designated charge nurse typically carries a patient assignment
- PACU Clerk assists with transport and administrative tasks
- RT equipment overseen by Anesthesia with RT available to assist
- No ICU patients recover in PACU as facility has no ICU
Requirements
- Active RN license (NM or Compact) required
- Current certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS, and PALS
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Ortho experience required
- Endoscopy experience preferred
- Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips
- First-time travelers will be considered
Additional Information
- Provide perioperative and post-anesthesia nursing care across Preop and PACU phases
- Facility-required training modules must be completed prior to floor work, taking approximately 20 hours
- One week of unit-specific orientation with a preceptor provided
- Blue scrubs required and provided by facility
- Cancellation policy allows for 2 shifts per 13-week assignment
