Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Pediatric Stepdown RN requiring an active IL RN license and hands-on vent/trach/G-tube care experience for a night shift assignment.
Details
- Pediatric stepdown unit within a children's hospital, a single 39-bed unit housing all specialties
- Patient population ranges from 2 weeks to 18 years old, with 50-60% requiring some form of technology dependence
- Night shift schedule (3x12 or 4x12) from 19:00-07:30
- Patient ratio of 1:3-4
- Required to work every other weekend
- No on-call responsibilities
- Floating within scope required to meet facility needs
- Block scheduling accommodated
- Uses Meditech charting system
Requirements
- Active IL RN license required in hand at time of consideration (compact licenses not accepted)
- Current BLS and PALS certifications
- Minimum 2 years of relevant nursing experience required
- Prior 1:4 patient ratio experience required
- Experience with ventilators, tracheostomy care, and gastric tube management required
- Meditech charting experience required
- Flu vaccine required, with medical and religious exemptions accepted
- Prior travel nursing experience required
Additional Information
- Provide acute care to chronically ill pediatric patients, including those with tracheostomies and chronic ventilator dependence
- Unit does not manage drip medications, surgical patients, or transitional patients
- Scrubs of any color accepted as long as neat and clean, with pediatric-themed scrubs encouraged
- Free parking available in shared lots adjacent to a public park
- Candidates who previously worked as permanent staff at this facility or its affiliated clinics will not be considered
- RTO must be approved and included in the contract prior to the start date, with no additions permitted after the contract begins
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate as travelers
- Candidates with a pending IL RN license may be considered
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this role
