Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric ICU/Stepdown position requiring an IL RN license, vent/trach experience, and PALS certification.

Details

• Children's hospital inpatient unit with 39 beds covering all pediatric specialties, ages 2 weeks to 18 years
• 50-60% of patients have some form of technology dependence (vents, trach, G tubes)
• Acute care unit for patients with chronic illness including tracheostomy and chronic ventilator dependence
• No drips, surgical, or transitional patients on this unit
• Patient ratio of 1:3-4
• Night shift, 4x12 hours (19:00-07:30); 3x12 schedules also accepted
• Required to work every other weekend
• No on-call requirements
• Floating within scope required to meet facility needs
• Open to block scheduling accommodations
• Meditech charting system used

Requirements

• Active IL RN license in hand at time of consideration (compact licenses not accepted; IL license can take up to 3 months to issue)
• BLS and PALS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
• Prior 1:4 patient ratio experience required
• Experience caring for ventilated and tracheostomy patients required
• Experience managing gastric tubes required
• Meditech charting experience required
• Flu vaccine required (medical and religious exemptions accepted)

• Provide direct care to pediatric patients with chronic illness and technology dependence, including ventilator and tracheostomy management
• Free parking available in shared lots on facility grounds
• Scrubs may be any color as long as neat and clean; peds-themed scrubs encouraged
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this role
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate as travelers
• Pending license candidates accepted
• Previous staff members of this facility or its affiliated clinics are not eligible for consideration
• All requested time off must be approved and included in the contract prior to start date, with no additions once the contract begins
