Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN with a GA or Compact license and at least 2 years of critical care experience for a hospital ICU on day shift.

Details

• Hospital ICU setting with 24 rooms and an average daily census of 19
• Patient ratio of 1:2-3, with travelers expected to be prepared for a 3rd patient as needed
• Patient population ranges from adults to geriatrics
• Common diagnoses include ARDS, sepsis, stroke, STEMI, DKA, post-op complications, cardiogenic shock, GIB, COPD exacerbation, encephalopathy, liver failure, drug overdose, and ESRD on CRRT
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours (7:00 AM-7:00 PM)
• Every other weekend required unless otherwise specified
• Floating required within facility and scope of practice as needed
• Uses Pyxis and Epic systems with SBAR communication
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Block scheduling not guaranteed

Requirements

• Active GA or Compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS prior to start
• TNCC certification preferred
• Experience with ventilated patients, HFNC, and ETT/NT suctioning required
• IV therapy and central line care/management experience required
• CVA/acute stroke management experience required
• Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management experience required
• Post neurosurgery management experience preferred
• CVVHD/CRRT experience preferred
• Post cardiac surgery care experience preferred (not directly from OR)
• First-time travelers accepted

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to a high-acuity adult and geriatric ICU population
• Complete required compliance documentation promptly to avoid delays in start date, as non-compliance may result in a 2-week push back due to bi-weekly orientation scheduling
• Non-billable orientation hours are determined based on contract length
• Holiday coverage required as follows: work 1 holiday if 1 falls during the assignment, work both if 2 fall during the assignment, or work 2 of 3 if 3 major holidays fall during the assignment (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, New Year's Eve/New Year's Day)
• Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, which must be finalized at time of consideration and cannot be requested during orientation week or after offer/onsite
• No holiday RTO may be requested if 1-2 holidays fall during the assignment; 1 holiday RTO request may be considered if 3 holidays fall during the assignment
• Travel pairs are not accepted on the same unit, regardless of shift
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate
• Previous Piedmont employees (perm, per diem, or FCSS) must be away from all Piedmont facilities for 1 full year before applying as a traveler
• Candidates who cancelled or received a facility DNR must complete one assignment outside Piedmont before reapplying
