Description
American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg RN for a 16-week contract requiring a TN or compact RN license and comfort working with a forensic/prison patient population.
Details
- Med/Surg unit with day shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00 AM-7:00 PM)
- Float required to other Med/Surg and Tele units, including forensics and inpatient units
- Must be comfortable caring for a prison/forensic patient population
- No call requirements under facility's strict no-call policy
- 16-week contract length
Requirements
- Active TN state RN license or compact multi-state license required
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- CPI certification required (MAB accepted in lieu of CPI)
- Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg RN experience required
- Skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy, starting and maintaining IVs, and peripheral line care/management
- Cardiac monitoring experience with ability to interpret dysrhythmias
- Blood product administration experience
- Competency in isolation precautions/PPE and medication administration
- Tracheostomy care/management experience
- Oncology experience preferred, including chemotherapy administration
- Preferred skills in dysrhythmia management, wound care/wound vac, PCA, and telemetry
- Two professional references required for consideration
- Copies of driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration
Additional Information
- Contract nurses participate in a holiday rotation, working 3 of 6 designated holidays (Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day) based on assigned holiday group
- RTO requests will not be approved for the designated holiday period, and contracts starting in September are expected to extend into the new year to ensure holiday coverage
- Local candidates and first-time travelers are welcome to apply at the same pay rate
