Description
American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Step Down/PCU night shift position at a teaching hospital requiring at least 1 year of PCU experience and an OH or compact RN license.
Details
- Work in the Step Down/PCU unit of a teaching hospital
- Cardiac telemetry patient population requiring rhythm monitoring and dysrhythmia management
- Night shift, 3x12 hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM), 36 hours per week
- Weekday and some weekend shifts required, with rotating or straight nights and rotating holidays
- On-call responsibilities required
- Floating required within the OSU health system
- Uses Epic EMR
Requirements
- Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 1 year of PCU/Step Down nursing experience required
- Teaching hospital experience required
- Trauma Level I or II experience preferred
- Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
- Skilled in respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP management, high flow nasal cannula, ABG interpretation, tracheostomy care, and non-invasive airway management
- Experience with IV therapy, central line, PICC line, and peripheral line care/management
- Experience with blood product administration and phlebotomy
- Experience with cardiac drip titration and heparin protocols
- Experience with IV insulin protocols and insulin drip titration
- Experience managing pre/post hemodialysis and renal failure patients
- Experience with feeding tube care and management
- Knowledge of isolation precautions and PPE use
- 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a manager, director, or supervisor and the second from a charge RN or higher; coworker references not accepted
Additional Information
- Provide cardiac telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and respond using rapid response/code teams as needed
- Care for patients requiring ventilator support, chest tube management, and oxygen administration
- Complete Ohio fingerprinting requirements promptly upon signing contract due to strict processing timelines
- RTO requests must be submitted with application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment after being away from the facility for 6 months or more
- Current employees of any Ohio State University hospital location are ineligible for travel assignments
- Local candidates are accepted at the same pay rate
