Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Physical Therapist for an inpatient acute care assignment, requiring 2+ years of experience and BLS certification.
Details
- Inpatient acute care setting covering mid-level critical care, medical-surgical, and orthopedic floors, with occasional inpatient rehab evaluations and treatments
- Primary focus (90%) on inpatient rehab unit within the hospital, with 10% on ortho and medical-surgical floors
- Part of a 6-person PT team on weekdays, with 1-3 PTs covering weekends
- Assignment includes a scheduled relocation between two facility locations during the contract
- Schedule is primarily 8-5 Monday through Friday with potential negotiable shifts (4x10s or 5x8s) between 7:30am-6:00pm
- Possible weekend coverage planned in advance during part of the assignment
- Second half of assignment involves being the sole PT on-site at the smaller location
- Expected caseload of 4 patients per 8-hour shift in the inpatient rehab unit, with documentation completed within shift hours
- Unit productivity target of 22 units per 8-hour day
- Uses Allscripts EMR
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of recent Physical Therapy experience required
- BLS certification required
- Active state or compact (NLC) PT license required for the state of submission; pending licenses not accepted
- License required if applicable
- Must be able to work efficiently and independently without extensive onboarding support
- Experience in inpatient acute care, including critical care, medical-surgical, and orthopedic patient populations
- Comfort working in inpatient rehab facility (IRF) settings

- Responsibilities include evaluating and treating patients across multiple units, including inpatient rehab, orthopedics, and medical-surgical floors
- Works alongside a collaborative team of PTs, OTs, and SLPs
- Standard PT documentation requirements apply within 8-hour shifts
- Not suited for new graduates; candidates should be able to work independently with minimal guidance
