Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Nurse for a Labor and Delivery position requiring 2 years of experience, Epic proficiency, and night shift availability.

Details

• Labor and Delivery unit with 8 labor rooms and 4 triage rooms
• Cares for patients experiencing labor and preterm labor
• Duties include circulating, OB-GYN, post-op, pre-op, scrub, low risk antepartum, and low risk L&D care
• Performs special procedures such as blood/blood product administration, cardioversion/defibrillation, cooling/warming blanket use, drain management, epidural/PCA/syringe pump management, and wound vac care
• Administers heparin, insulin, and magnesium sulfate
• Attends all deliveries including high risk deliveries and assists with GYN surgeries
• Provides couplet care, low risk antepartum care, and transition nursery support
• Staffing ratio of 1:1 to 1:3
• Facility averages 200-300 births per month in a teaching hospital setting
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:30
• Requires floating to Post-Partum and possibly to L&D at a sister facility
• Accepts 13 or 26 week contract lengths
• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active WA or compact RN license required at time of submission
• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, FHM, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate
• ACLS certification preferred
• Epic EMR experience required
• Skilled in IV therapy/phlebotomy and administration of blood and blood products
• Experience maintaining central lines (CVC/PICC)
• Proficient in medication administration including anticoagulation therapy, antihypertensives, insulin drips, and magnesium sulfate therapy
• Experience assisting with high risk deliveries, circulating for C-sections, and C-section recovery
• Skilled in sterile vaginal exams and pain management including epidural anesthesia and IV PCA use
• Knowledge of isolation precautions/PPE, antepartum care, obstetrical triage, fetal monitoring, and IUPC placement/calibration
• Experience in postpartum care and wound assessment
• Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required

Additional Information

• Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day
• Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
• Candidates must reside within 50 miles for local consideration
• Former Providence permanent employees from non-Swedish facilities may be eligible after a 3-month separation period
