Description
American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN for a night shift position requiring 2 years of L&D experience and Epic proficiency.
Details
- Labor and Delivery unit with 8 labor rooms and 4 triage rooms
- Facility performs 200-300 births per month
- Care for patients experiencing labor, preterm labor, and high-risk deliveries
- Duties include circulating, OB-GYN, post-op, pre-op, scrub, low risk antepartum, and low risk L&D care
- Special procedures include blood/blood product administration, cardioversion/defibrillation, cooling/warming blankets, drains, epidural pumps, PCA pumps, syringe pumps, and wound vac care
- Medication administration includes heparin, insulin, and magnesium sulfate
- Attends all deliveries including high-risk deliveries and GYN surgeries
- Provides couplet care, low risk antepartum, and transition nursery support
- Staffing ratio of 1:1 to 1:3
- Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:30
- Float required to Post-Partum and possibly L&D at a sister facility
- Teaching hospital setting
Requirements
- Active WA or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Required certifications: BLS, FHM, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate
- ACLS certification preferred
- Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood and blood product administration, and central line maintenance (CVC/PICC)
- Experience with anticoagulation therapy, antihypertensives, insulin drips, and magnesium sulfate therapy
- Experience assisting with high-risk deliveries, circulating for C-sections, and C-section recovery
- Sterile vaginal exam experience required
- Experience with epidural anesthesia, pain assessment and management, and IV PCA use
- Experience with fetal monitoring and IUPC placement and calibration
- Antepartum and postpartum care and procedures experience required
- Wound assessment and care experience required
- Two professional references required, covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive labor and delivery nursing care including triage, antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum patients
- Utilize isolation precautions and PPE as needed
- Must commit to working 3 of the 5 designated holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day
- All RTO and scheduling requests must be submitted upfront for consideration
- Travelers may be expected to float between sister facilities near the contracted location
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate
- Candidates who previously worked as permanent staff at this facility must wait at least 3 months before returning and must reside outside a 50-mile radius
- 13 or 26 week contract lengths accepted
