Description
American Traveler is seeking an RN for an Intermediate Care/PCU Telemetry position requiring an active NY license and at least 1 year of telemetry experience for night shift coverage.
Details
- Acute inpatient Progressive Care Unit (PCU) within a Level 2 trauma hospital
- Patient population includes Acute Coronary Syndrome, cardiac diagnoses requiring close monitoring, post PTCA/stent care, drug toxicity, ETOH withdrawal, thrombolytic therapy, vascular surgery, hemodynamic instability, insulin drip therapy, heart failure, carotid surgery, cardioversion, and active rewarming
- Nurse to patient ratio of 3:1
- 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, 36 hours per week
- Schedule runs Monday through Sunday with no block scheduling
- Typically requires working every other weekend
- Floating required as part of a Resource Float team, prioritized to appropriate units first
- No call requirements
- Holiday coverage required if needed
- Documentation via Epic and medication administration via MAK
- Support staff includes CNA/PCT (3 per shift), telemetry tech, and 24/7 respiratory therapy availability
Requirements
- Active NY RN license required
- AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required, with NIHSS completed prior to start
- Minimum of 1 year of telemetry experience required
- Experience with insulin drips, cardiac drips, starting IVs, and post cardiac cath care required
- Epic EMR experience within the past 2 years required
Additional Information
- Provide progressive care and telemetry nursing for acute cardiac and medically complex adult patients
- Orientation runs 1-2 days with bi-weekly sessions held on Mondays
- Dress code includes navy blue or white scrubs, closed-toe nonskid shoes, minimal jewelry, professional groomed hair, no beard, and no artificial nail polish
- Reliable personal or rental vehicle strongly recommended due to lack of public transportation, with all-season or snow tires recommended November through April
- Local candidates accepted, with pay tiered by mileage: local (50 miles or less), radius (51-100 miles), and travel (101+ miles)
- First-time travelers may be considered
- Any employment gaps over 90 days must be explained
