Description
American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Progressive Care/Intermediate Care unit requiring an active or pending NY license and at least 1 year of telemetry experience.
Details
- Work in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) within an acute inpatient hospital setting
- Trauma Level 2 facility with 341 total beds
- Patient population includes Acute Coronary Syndrome, Bipap/CPAP with compromised gas exchange, cardiac diagnoses requiring closer monitoring, titrating inotropic/vasodilator/antiarrhythmic/anti-platelet drips, post PTCA/stent with arterial/venous sheath, drug toxicity, ETOH withdrawal, thrombolytic therapy, major vascular surgery, hypotension/hemodynamic instability, insulin drip therapy, heart failure, carotid surgery, and electrical cardioversion
- Adult patient population
- Nurse to patient ratio of 3:1
- CNA/PCT support available with 3 staff per shift, plus telemetry tech support
- Uses Epic for documentation and MAK for medication administration
- 12-hour night shift schedule, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, 36 hours per week
- Weekend requirements typically every other weekend
- Floating required, with priority given to appropriate units as part of the Resource Float team
- No call requirements
- No block scheduling permitted
Requirements
- Active NY RN license or proof of pending application required
- AHA BLS and AHA ACLS certifications required
- NIHSS certification required prior to start
- Minimum 1 year of telemetry experience required
- Minimum 1 year of clinical experience in specialty required
- Epic experience within the past 2 years required
- Experience with insulin drips, cardiac drips, IV starts, and post cardiac cath care required
- Reliable personal or rental vehicle required due to lack of public transportation access
Additional Information
- Provide progressive/intermediate care nursing to cardiac and acute monitoring patients
- Participate in the Resource Float team as needed to support unit staffing
- 1-2 days of orientation provided, with bi-weekly orientation start dates
- Holiday coverage required for 2 of the following 3 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas/Christmas Eve, and New Year's Day/Eve
- Dress code requires navy blue or white scrubs, closed-toe nonskid shoes, minimal jewelry, no artificial nail polish, and professional groomed hair with no beard
- All-season or snow tires recommended for vehicles during November through April
- Local candidates accepted
- Travel, radius, and local pay tiers are determined by direct-line mileage from the facility
