Description
American Traveler is seeking a Registered Nurse for an Intermediate Care/PCU position requiring an active NY RN license, telemetry experience, and night shift availability.
Details
- Progressive Care Unit (PCU) within a 341-bed hospital designated as a Level 2 trauma center
- Adult patient population including acute coronary syndrome, heart failure, post PTCA/stent, drug toxicity, and ETOH withdrawal cases requiring advanced monitoring
- 3:1 nurse-to-patient ratio with CNA/PCT support (3 staff per shift) and telemetry tech assistance
- 12-hour night shift schedule (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM), 36 hours per week
- Weekend requirement of every other weekend or as needed for unit coverage
- Float required as part of the Resource Float team, prioritized to appropriate units
- No on-call responsibilities
- Holiday coverage required if needed
- Documentation via Epic EMR and MAK medication system
Requirements
- Active NY RN license, or proof of pending application with applied date, required for consideration
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required, with NIHSS completed prior to start
- Minimum of 1 year telemetry/PCU nursing experience required
- Epic EMR experience within the past 2 years required
- Experience with insulin drips, cardiac drips, IV starts, and post cardiac cath care required
- Reliable personal transportation required due to lack of public transit access
Additional Information
- Nurses will function as part of the unit's Resource Float team
- Dress code includes navy blue or white scrubs, closed-toe nonskid shoes, minimal jewelry, professional groomed hair, no beards, and no artificial nail polish
- Orientation runs 1-2 days with bi-weekly start dates
- Holiday coverage required for 2 of the following 3 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas/Christmas Eve, and New Year's Day/Eve
- First-time travelers are welcome, though prior travel experience is preferred
- Personal vehicle recommended, with all-season or snow tires advised for winter months
- Local candidates accepted, with pay tiers based on direct-line mileage from the facility (local within 50 miles, radius 51-100 miles, travel 101+ miles)
