Description
American Traveler is seeking an Emergency Department RN for a 12-hour night shift assignment requiring a VT or compact RN license and prior travel nursing experience.
Details
- Critical access hospital with a 25-bed capacity and a 10-14 bed Emergency Department
- Patient population ranges from newborn to geriatric (ages 0-100+)
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4
- Staffing includes 3-4 RNs per shift, an ED tech 24/7, and a charge nurse assigned 24/7
- One physician scheduled 24 hours with mid-level coverage (PA/NP) from 0930-2130
- Uses Epic for documentation and Pyxis for medication dispensing
- Utilizes Alaris IV pumps, Phillips monitors, and a Ranger blood warmer
- Performs ESI triage, IV insertion, drips/infusions, EKGs, restraint application, procedural sedation, and ambulance transports
- 12-hour night shift schedule from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, 36 hours per week
- Minimum every other weekend required with schedule flexibility based on unit needs
- No floating required
- No block scheduling permitted
Requirements
- Active RN license (VT or Compact) required
- AHA BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
- ENPC, NRP, NIHSS, and TNCC certifications required
- Minimum of 2 years of Emergency Department experience required
- At least one completed travel nursing assignment required
- Epic EMR experience within the past 2 years required
- Charge nurse experience preferred
Additional Information
- Provide emergency care to patients across the full age spectrum in a rural, critical access setting
- Facility operates at Trauma Level IV without on-site interventional radiology or cath lab
- STEMI, stroke, and trauma patients are transferred to higher levels of care and may require RN accompaniment during transport
- ED utilizes Telemedicine and Telestroke consultation services
- Candidates should be comfortable precepting new nurses and participating in ambulance transports if needed
- Manager or supervisor is available on-call during off hours
- Personal vehicle strongly recommended as public transportation is not accessible in the area
- Vehicles should be equipped with all-season or snow tires during winter months (November-April)
- Holiday coverage required, with travelers expected to work 2 of the following 4 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, Christmas Eve, and New Year's Day
- Local candidates are accepted
- Travel pay is tiered based on direct-line mileage from the facility: local (50 miles or less), radius (51-100 miles), and travel (101+ miles)
