Description
American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Respiratory Step-Down Unit position in a Long Term Acute Care setting, requiring a CT or compact RN license and 1-2 years of nursing experience.
Details
- Long Term Acute Care hospital setting on a 38-bed Respiratory Step-Down Unit
- Respiratory-focused, ventilator-dependent adult patient population
- Day/evening nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:9 and night ratio of 1:12
- 12-hour day shift schedule from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend shift required
- May float to similar chronic care units including RCU, RCU2, SDU, and TRU, with travelers floating first
- Floating assignment may span multiple units within a single 12-hour shift
Requirements
- Active CT or compact RN license required
- BLS certification required, ACLS preferred
- 1-2 years of RN experience required
- Experience with respiratory or ventilator-dependent patients strongly preferred
- Prior travel nursing experience preferred
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include IV starts, drip and blood administration, EKGs, medication titrations, and glucose monitoring
- Performs wound care duties such as wound vac changes, simple and complex dressings, and wound measurements
- Provides trach care, suctioning, straight catheterization, foley care, port access, and central line dressing changes
- Respiratory therapists manage ventilators, not nursing staff
- Local candidates are accepted
- Local rate available for candidates within a 50-mile radius
