Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night shift position on a busy post-surgical unit requiring at least 1 year of recent specialty experience.

Details

• Position located on a 36-bed surgical unit (9 Tower Surgical) within a hospital setting
• Staffing includes 8 bedside RNs per shift with 1:5 patient ratios
• Night shift schedule from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• 13-week assignment length
• Uses Meditech EMR
• Equipment includes bariatric fitted ADLs, wound vacs, drains, and lifts
• Fast-paced unit with short lengths of stay
• Floating required to other Medical-Surgical units

Requirements

• Active TN or compact RN license required
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• At least 1 year of recent experience in Med/Surg specialty required
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
• US Social Security Number and date of birth required for consideration (no Canadian SSN accepted)
• One professional reference required

Additional Information

• Perform post-operative surgical care including wound care, dressing changes, and wound vac maintenance
• Manage Foley catheter care including continuous bladder irrigation
• Provide ostomy appliance changes and maintenance
• Perform nasogastric tube insertion and suction
• Administer TPN and blood products
• Provide central line care and dressing changes
• Participate in bedside shift report
• Background in post-op surgical specialties such as vascular, bariatric, urology, general surgery, or colorectal surgery preferred
• Outgoing, customer-service oriented personality is a strong fit for this unit
• Scrub colors accepted: black, grey, white, or royal blue
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; local candidates will not be considered
• First-time travelers may be considered
