Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit night shift role requiring at least 1-2 years of cardiovascular experience and a NM or compact RN license.

Details

• Cardiac stepdown unit located within the Heart Hospital with a significant cardiac patient population
• 55-bed unit with a 1:4 patient ratio
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (6:30 PM-7:00 AM), with option of 36 or 48 hours per week
• Rotating weekend coverage as needed
• Floating required to like units within scope based on facility needs
• No on-call requirements
• Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active NM or compact RN license required (pending compact accepted if obtained prior to start)
• BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS and CPI preferred
• Minimum 1-2 years of RN experience, with cardiovascular experience required
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and telemetry monitoring
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care preferred
• Experience with cardiac drip management (titration not required) preferred
• Experience with pre/post cardiac catheterization and cardiac surgery care preferred

Additional Information

• Provide cardiac stepdown-level nursing care including cardiac monitoring and emergency response
• Care for patients requiring respiratory support such as BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, and non-invasive airway management
• Manage wound care, IV insulin protocols, and feeding tube care as needed
• Scrub color is flexible but must be logo-free
• Must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible; local candidates not accepted
• First-time travelers are accepted
• Former staff must wait one year before returning as a traveler
• Travel pairs or groups not accepted
• Brief unit orientation provided prior to floating assignments
