Description
American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) role in a cardiac stepdown unit, requiring cardiovascular experience and NM or compact RN license.
Details
- Cardiac stepdown unit located within a Heart Hospital with a significant cardiac patient population
- 55-bed unit with a 1:4 patient ratio
- Night shift schedule (4x12 hours, 18:30-07:00) with option of 36 or 48 hours weekly
- Rotating weekend coverage as needed
- Floating required to like units within scope based on facility needs
- No on-call requirements
- Uses Epic charting system
Requirements
- Active RN license (NM or Compact) required, pending compact accepted if obtained prior to start
- BLS and ACLS certification required; NIHSS and CPI preferred
- 2 years of RN experience preferred, will consider 1+ years
- Cardiovascular experience required
- Epic charting experience preferred
- Skills in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, and telemetry monitoring required
- Experience with cardiac drip management and heparin protocols
- Experience with central and peripheral line care, IV therapy, and phlebotomy
- Preferred skills include chest tube management, BiPAP/CPAP, wound care, IV insulin protocols, and pre/post cardiac cath and surgery care
Additional Information
- Provide nursing care for cardiac stepdown patients including monitoring, medication administration, and post-procedural care
- Brief unit orientation provided for floating assignments
- Scrub color: any (no logos)
- First-time travelers accepted
- Previous staff must wait one year before returning as a traveler
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; locals not accepted
- No travel pairs or groups accepted
