Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a NICU position at a teaching hospital requiring 2 years of NICU experience, travel experience, and Epic charting proficiency.

Details

• Level III/IV Neonatal ICU setting within a teaching hospital
• Cares for neonates ranging from <24-28 weeks gestation to >34 weeks
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-7:00)
• Epic EMR experience required, no exceptions
• Candidates will float within scope as needed
• 13-week assignment length

Requirements

• Active RN license, VA or compact state, required in hand at time of consideration
• Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• BLS and NRP certifications required
• BSN preferred
• Epic charting experience required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy, arterial and central line management, UAC/UVC care, and administration of blood products
• Experience with ventilator management, high frequency ventilation, and oscillators preferred
• Experience with neonatal conditions such as NEC, gastroschisis/omphalocele, and neonatal abstinence syndrome
• 2 professional references (supervisor level or above) required for consideration

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include neonatal dosage calculations, thermoregulation, developmental care, and patient/family teaching
• Provides care for conditions such as respiratory distress syndrome, neonatal sepsis, and seizure disorders
• Facility maintains a natural nail policy
• Drug and tobacco-free, smoke-free workplace
• Candidates will complete unit-specific orientation modules during onboarding week
• Facility reviews all background check results prior to start
• Local candidates accepted at the same base rate with no radius restrictions
• Both travelers and former permanent staff must have a gap of at least one year before returning to the facility
• No time off granted during the first week of assignment; all other RTO must be submitted and approved by the unit manager
• Candidates must not exceed 40 hours per week unless approved by the unit manager
