Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Telemetry RN with neurology expertise for a night shift position at a Level II Trauma Center requiring NIHSS proficiency.
Details
- Work in the Telemetry unit of a Level II Trauma Center and Level II Pediatric Trauma Center teaching hospital
- Care for neurology patients including post-surgical neuro, CVA, craniotomy, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury cases
- Patient ratio of 1:5
- Night shift, 3x12 hours (19:00-7:00)
- Required to work every other weekend
- Floating between units required, with potential floating to sister facilities
- No on-call requirements
- Uses Epic EMR
Requirements
- Active WA or compact RN license required, must be in hand at time of consideration
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
- Epic charting experience required
- Neurology RN experience required, including proficiency with the NIH Stroke Scale
- Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- Experience with BiPAP/CPAP management and chest tube care (Emerson/PleurEvac)
- Experience with procedural sedation administration and monitoring
- 2 supervisory references covering at least 1 year of employment within the last 3 years
- Full SSN and DOB required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide telemetry and neuro stepdown nursing care, including management of post-surgical neurology and various neurology diagnoses
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for travel pay rate, though local candidates are accepted at a lower bill rate
- Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and cannot be within 50 miles of the facility
- Must be willing to commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
- RTO requests must be submitted upfront during consideration, as post-offer requests may not be accommodated
- Scrub color is open for RNs
- No parking fee at this facility
