Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Operating Room position requiring Level I Trauma experience and independence with trauma, craniotomy, vascular, and endo-vascular cases.
Details
- Operating Room unit within a Short Term Acute Care Level I Trauma Center and Academic Medical Center
- 3x12-hour shifts rotating between days, evenings, and nights based on unit needs
- Schedules are made in 6-week blocks and released 2 weeks prior to the start of each block
- Travelers are typically placed on night shift for one week within a four-week schedule block
- On-call required, scheduled up to 2 times per week, generally paired with an already scheduled shift
- Weekend work required
- Uses Epic for charting
- General OR and Hybrid OR settings, including trauma cases such as gunshot and stab wounds
Requirements
- Active CT or Compact RN license required
- BLS certification required; ACLS also required per unit
- Minimum 3 years of RN experience required
- Travel experience required
- Teaching hospital experience required
- Trauma Level I experience required at a large facility
- Must be independent with trauma cases, craniotomy, vascular, and endo-vascular procedures
- Circulating experience required; scrub experience highly preferred
- Experience with robotics and orthopedic cases strongly preferred
- Neurology and craniotomy skills required
- Epic charting experience required
- 1 professional reference required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care in a high-acuity, Level I Trauma Center OR environment
- Scrub color required is royal blue
- Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
- COVID vaccine and booster required except for religious or medical exemption
- No holiday RTO approvals permitted for this unit
- RTO requests beyond 7 days require additional approval
- First-time travelers are accepted for this role
- Local candidates not accepted; must reside more than 75 miles from the hospital
- Previously employed staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years to return as a traveler
- Travelers may be required to participate in natural disaster or emergency response activities
