Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Step Down unit position requiring EPIC experience and 1.5+ years of chronic stable ventilator care.
Details
- Step Down unit within a hospital setting
- Targeted patient ratios of 1:4, potentially up to 1:5-6
- Night shift, 4x12 hours (19:00-07:30)
- 13 or 18-week contract options available
- 36 or 48 hour weekly options, with OT paid after 48 hours for the 48-hour contract
- Requires availability to work every other weekend and every other holiday
- Floating required within the hospital and to nearby Premier Health campuses (Dayton, Centerville, Englewood) based on skillset and census needs
- Travelers are prioritized for floating assignments at facility discretion
Requirements
- Active OH or compact RN license required
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- IV Start experience preferred
- Minimum 1.5 years of RN experience, with some Level I or II trauma experience preferred
- Experience with stable chronic ventilator patients required
- EPIC charting experience required
- Must pass an online EKG telemetry competency assessment prior to starting the assignment
- Travel nursing experience preferred
- Prior charge experience preferred
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- No history of RN license disciplinary action
Additional Information
- Provide telemetry and step down level nursing care including cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and rapid response coordination
- Skills utilized may include central/PICC line care, blood product administration, respiratory support (BiPAP/CPAP, tracheostomy care, ABG interpretation), and cardiac/vasoactive drip management
- Additional exposure to wound care, insulin protocols, and renal/dialysis management may be required
- Facility reserves the right to cancel up to 2 shifts per 13-week contract due to low census
- Facility reserves the right to cancel the contract with 2 weeks' notice
- Maximum of 14 days RTO allowed per contract, must be requested at time of submission with no changes after offer
- Local candidates are not accepted; must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
- Previous PERM/PRN employees of Premier Health or prior agency travelers not extended due to tenure must wait 6 months before reapplying and require facility rehire approval
- Lab work and EKG/Dysrhythmia exam must be completed within 72 hours of signing the contract
