Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele Float position requiring prior travel experience and strong ortho/neuro/cardiac tele skills.

Details

• Float pool role covering acute care and telemetry units, including Behavioral Health and Respite
• Patient population includes ortho/neuro-stroke and cardiac telemetry patients
• High volume of ortho floors utilizing peripheral nerve catheters
• Patient ratio of 1:4-5
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00-07:30
• Every other weekend required, with flexibility requested
• Floats within scope to meet facility needs, may split 12-hour shift between two units
• No on-call requirements
• Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active WA or compact RN license required (pending license accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, ideally in MS/Tele or stepdown in a Level I or II trauma facility
• Minimum of 1 prior travel contract required, no first-time travelers accepted
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Must pass a fill-in-the-blank telemetry proficiency exam at orientation
• Proficiency in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias required
• Experience with insulin drip titration required
• Strong ortho and neuro clinical skills required
• Level II Trauma experience required, Level I Trauma experience preferred
• BSN preferred
• Epic charting experience preferred but not required

Additional Information

• Provide float coverage across MS/Tele, ortho trauma, cardiovascular, and endocrine/metabolic units
• Responsibilities include cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and pre/post neurosurgical care
• Facility prefers to avoid scheduling travel pairs
• RTO cannot be requested during orientation week and should be kept to a minimum
• No Christmas RTO permitted; must work 2 of 3 major holidays with 1 eligible for time off
• Scrubs may be any solid color; unit also provides light blue scrubs
• COVID vaccination and booster required with no exceptions
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate with no radius restriction
• Prior UW/Harborview staff must have 18 months separation before returning as a traveler
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this role
