Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Stepdown Neuro unit position requiring 2 years of experience and telemetry proficiency at a Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital.

Details

• Stepdown Neuro unit within a Magnet, teaching, Level 1 Trauma hospital
• Patient population includes Neurosurgery, Neurology, and Epilepsy cases such as TBI, craniotomy, craniectomy, aneurysm clipping/coiling, spinal cord injury, stroke, seizure, and change in mental status
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00-19:30
• Every other weekend required with scheduling flexibility
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating within scope required, with travelers prioritized to float first
• Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active WA or compact RN license required
• Current certifications: BLS and NIHSS
• Must pass a telemetry/dysrhythmia interpretation and management competency exam
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Prior travel experience preferred; first-time travelers considered only with strong neuro experience
• Required skills: IV start, telemetry monitoring, tracheostomy care and management
• Level 1 Trauma experience preferred
• Proficiency in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias required

Additional Information

• Provide nursing care to neurosurgical, neurological, and epilepsy patients including those with TBI, craniotomy, spinal cord injury, and stroke
• Perform cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and emergency response
• Blue scrub color required
• COVID vaccination and booster required with no exceptions
• Holiday coverage required: may request 1 of 3 major holidays off but must work 2 holidays (eve/day)
• RTO limited to no more than 6 days, with no RTO permitted during the first 2 weeks or orientation week
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate with no radius restriction
• Prior UW/Harborview staff must have 18 months separation before returning as a traveler
• First-time travelers considered only if they have strong neuro experience
