Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg RN for a night shift position requiring Epic charting experience and AHA certifications.

Details

• Med/Surg unit in a hospital setting
• Patient ratio of 1:7
• Night shift schedule (3x12 or 4x12 hours, 16:30-7:00) on a 36/48 rotation
• Rotating weekends and holidays required
• Floating required
• No call responsibilities
• Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active VA or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• ACLS, OCN, and PALS certifications preferred
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• Charge nurse experience preferred
• Teaching hospital, community hospital, LTAC, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and PICC line management
• Experience with central line and peripheral line care/management
• Experience with blood product administration and central line blood draws
• Respiratory care skills including BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube care, and tracheostomy management
• Experience interpreting arterial blood gases (ABGs) and managing high flow nasal cannula (HFNC)
• Neurological care experience including CVA, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury
• Cardiac monitoring skills including dysrhythmia interpretation/management and telemetry monitoring
• Experience with wound care/wound vac and IV insulin protocols
• Experience with colostomy/ileostomy and feeding tube management
• BSN required for international candidates

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care across a range of med/surg, telemetry, orthopedic, cardiovascular, and renal conditions
• Participate in nursing student support and clinical education alongside clinical care duties
• General orientation begins on Sundays with online computer-based learning modules
• Orientation modules average 4-5 hours and are non-billable
• Facial hair must be trimmed or removed to meet fit testing guidelines
• Must be willing to complete drug testing within 12-14 calendar days prior to start, including a possible second test
• Candidates must reside 100+ miles from the facility's service area with no local candidates accepted
• First-time travelers are not being considered for this role
• RTO must be disclosed at time of consideration
