Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Emergency Department RN requiring a PA or compact RN license and Cerner charting experience.
Details
- Combined adult/pediatric General Emergency Department setting at a Stroke Certified facility
- Rotating Day (7:00-19:00) and Night (19:00-7:00) shifts on a 3x12 schedule
- Every other weekend rotation required
- Uses Cerner EMR for charting
Requirements
- Active PA or Compact RN license required in hand
- Minimum 2 years of ER experience required
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS
- Preferred certifications: CPI or CCM, NRP
- Cerner charting system experience required
- 1 supervisory reference from within the past year required for consideration
- Skilled in psychiatric emergencies including acute psychosis, drug overdose, violent behavior management, and suicidal patients
- Skilled in respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP management and ventilated patient care
- Experienced in IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central line care/management
- Experienced with continuous IV paralytics, sedation, vasopressors, and emergency medications
- Skilled in procedural sedation administration and monitoring
- Experienced managing CVA and other neurological emergencies
- Proficient in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and 12-lead EKG/ECG acquisition
- Skilled in triage, isolation precautions/PPE, and identifying/reporting abuse or neglect
Additional Information
- Provide emergency care across a combined adult and pediatric patient population
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Must complete PA fingerprinting and ChildLine registration within 48 hours of signing contract, with fingerprinting completed in PA
- Must complete required lab work within 72 hours of signing contract
- Candidates must be responsive and cooperative throughout the credentialing process to avoid contract risk
- Any previous permanent or per diem employment with Penn Highlands Healthcare must be disclosed and must have ended at least 18 months prior to applying as a traveler
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
