Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Emergency Department RN requiring a PA or compact RN license and Cerner charting experience.

Details

• Combined adult/pediatric General Emergency Department setting at a Stroke Certified facility
• Rotating Day (7:00-19:00) and Night (19:00-7:00) shifts on a 3x12 schedule
• Every other weekend rotation required
• Uses Cerner EMR for charting

Requirements

• Active PA or Compact RN license required in hand
• Minimum 2 years of ER experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS
• Preferred certifications: CPI or CCM, NRP
• Cerner charting system experience required
• 1 supervisory reference from within the past year required for consideration
• Skilled in psychiatric emergencies including acute psychosis, drug overdose, violent behavior management, and suicidal patients
• Skilled in respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP management and ventilated patient care
• Experienced in IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central line care/management
• Experienced with continuous IV paralytics, sedation, vasopressors, and emergency medications
• Skilled in procedural sedation administration and monitoring
• Experienced managing CVA and other neurological emergencies
• Proficient in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and 12-lead EKG/ECG acquisition
• Skilled in triage, isolation precautions/PPE, and identifying/reporting abuse or neglect

Additional Information

• Provide emergency care across a combined adult and pediatric patient population
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Must complete PA fingerprinting and ChildLine registration within 48 hours of signing contract, with fingerprinting completed in PA
• Must complete required lab work within 72 hours of signing contract
• Candidates must be responsive and cooperative throughout the credentialing process to avoid contract risk
• Any previous permanent or per diem employment with Penn Highlands Healthcare must be disclosed and must have ended at least 18 months prior to applying as a traveler
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible
