Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Cardiac Telemetry position requiring an active IL license and prior telemetry/cardiac experience.

Details

• Acute care setting on a 70-bed Cardio Thoracic Telemetry unit
• Patient population includes MI, CHF, A fib, COPD, pacemaker/AICD placement, thoracic and lung surgery patients with chest tubes, esophagectomy, and general medical overflow
• Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4-5 on days and 1:5-6 on nights
• PCT support available at ratios of 1:8-9 days, 1:9-10 evenings, and 1:10-12 nights
• 24/7 charge nurse and house supervisor coverage, with charge nurse rarely taking patient assignments
• Uses Philips telemetry monitors with dedicated monitor techs, though RNs must independently read and interpret strips
• EPIC EMR used for charting
• 12-hour day shifts scheduled 0700-1930
• Every other weekend required, including Saturday/Sunday for days
• Rotating holiday coverage required per unit schedule
• Floating required to other general medical units
• No call or standby requirements at this time

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required, or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
• Current BLS certification (AHA) required; ACLS recommended
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Proficiency in EKG interpretation and medication titration, including Cardizem and heparin drips
• Strong foundational nursing skills required
• Must pass negative drug screen for all panels as part of facility's Drug-Free Campus policy

Additional Information

• Responsible for titrating cardiac drips and interpreting telemetry strips independently
• Manage patients requiring CPAP/BiPAP as part of home regimen, with heated high flow used only in special circumstances such as COVID cases
• Scrubs may be any color but must avoid children's or cartoon-style prints as this is an adult unit
• Unit-specific orientation typically consists of one shift, or partial shift for those previously oriented at an OSF facility
• Local rate applies to clinicians with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility
• No radius rule restricts eligibility for this position
• COVID vaccination is not required for consideration
