Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring 2 years of ER experience and OH/compact licensure at a Level I Trauma Center.

Details

  • General Emergency Department serving combined adult/pediatric patients
  • Level I Trauma Center setting
  • Patient population includes pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
  • Variable patient ratios
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (6:00 PM - 6:00 AM)
  • Weekdays and some weekends required, with 8 weekend shifts per contract
  • Rotating holiday coverage required
  • Floating required within units of equivalent or lower acuity level
  • Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

  • Active OH or compact RN license required at time of consideration
  • 2 years of Emergency Room experience required
  • BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • NRP, PALS, and TNCC certifications preferred
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, starting and maintaining IVs, care of ventilated patients, and continuous IV sedation
  • Procedural sedation administration/monitoring experience preferred
  • Neurological assessment skills including CVA care required
  • Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management experience required
  • Triage experience preferred
  • Isolation precautions/PPE knowledge required
  • Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a manager/director or supervisor and the second from a Charge RN or higher; no coworker references accepted

Additional Information

  • Provide emergency nursing care across a wide range of patient acuities and age groups in a Level I Trauma Center
  • Support team includes interpretation services, pharmacy, respiratory services, and unit secretary
  • Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing contract due to strict credentialing timelines
  • Local candidates accepted at the same rate
  • Former employees eligible for travel assignment after 6+ months away from the facility
  • Current employees of any Ohio State University hospital location are ineligible for traveler positions
  • RTO must be requested and built into the contract at time of consideration, limited to 7 days or less
  • First-time travelers not specifically required to have prior travel experience, though preferred
