Description
American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Intermediate Care position requiring telemetry experience, ACLS certification, and current NIHSS certification.
Details
- Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in a 341-bed, Trauma Level 2 hospital
- 12-hour night shift, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM, 36 hours per week
- Adult acute care patient population including ACS, heart failure, post PTCA/stent, drug toxicity, and ETOH withdrawal requiring advanced monitoring
- Nurse to patient ratio of 3:1
- CNA/PCT support available with 3 staff per shift, plus dedicated telemetry tech
- Respiratory therapy support available 24/7
- Uses Epic for documentation and MAK for medication administration
- Assigned to float team with floating to appropriate units as first priority
- Weekend requirement typically every other weekend
- Holiday coverage required as needed
- No self-scheduling and no on-call requirements
- 1-2 days of orientation provided
Requirements
- Active RN license (NY required; VT license not required to start)
- AHA BLS and AHA ACLS certifications required
- NIHSS certification required prior to start
- Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience required
- Minimum of 1 year of telemetry/PCU specialty experience required
- Epic experience within the past 2 years required
- Experience with insulin drips, cardiac drips, IV starts, and post cardiac catheterization care required
- Prior travel nursing experience preferred but not required
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care for cardiac and progressive care patients requiring close monitoring and titration of drips
- Part of the Resource Float team supporting multiple appropriate units
- Dress code includes navy blue or white scrubs, closed-toe nonskid shoes, minimal jewelry, professional groomed hair, no beards, and no artificial nail polish
- Reliable personal transportation strongly recommended due to lack of public transit access
- Vehicles should be equipped with all-season or snow tires from November through April
- First-time travelers may be considered
- Local candidates accepted
- Mileage-based rate tiers apply: local (50 miles or less), radius (51-100 miles), and travel (101+ miles)
