Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Surgical Stepdown day-shift position requiring stepdown or ICU experience and MO or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Surgical Stepdown unit with 29 beds
• Patient ratios of 1:3 or 1:4
• Post-op patients including high acuity surgical cases and lower acuity surgical patients needing cardiac drips or BiPAP support
• Also cares for trauma and high acuity medical patients
• Uses EPIC EMR
• Day shift, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Every other weekend required
• No call requirements
• Floating to any department of equal or lower acuity when needed

Requirements

• Active RN license eligible for or currently licensed in Missouri, or compact license
• Current BLS and ACLS certification from AHA only
• Minimum 2 years of stepdown experience required
• Stepdown or ICU experience required
• Experience with post-op care, BiPap, and cardiac drips required
• Strong time management and critical thinking skills required
• No employment gaps of 90+ days within the past 12 months

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation for all age groups
• Coordinate patient care with ancillary departments to optimize outcomes
• Evaluate effectiveness of care provided by other caregivers
• Maintain patient rights and confidentiality
• Position located within a Level 2 Trauma Center, Comprehensive Stroke Center, and Level 1 STEMI Center
• Physical demands include standing, walking, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, and turning patients with assistance
• High risk exposure to blood and body fluids
• Flu vaccination or Mercy-approved exemption required November 1 through April 1, with no declinations accepted
• Black scrubs required per facility dress code
• RTO of 5 days or less allowed, must be made up during the assignment
• Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are considered local
• Local candidates limited to 3 consecutive 13-week contracts before requiring a 1-year separation or transfer outside the radius
