Description
American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN with Heme/ONC/BMT experience for a Level I trauma teaching hospital requiring Epic proficiency and telemetry exam clearance.
Details
- Med/Surg Tele unit within a Level I trauma teaching hospital setting
- Patient population includes Heme/ONC/BMT and oncologic cases
- Patient ratio of 1:3-4
- Uses Epic charting system
- Day/evening 12-hour shifts, 0700-1930, three days per week
- Every other weekend required
- Holiday coverage on a rotating basis
- Floating required as needed
Requirements
- Active WI or compact RN license required
- BLS certification required (AHA only)
- Chemo certification (ONS/ONCC) required
- 3+ years recent experience in Heme/ONC/BMT required in a Level 1 trauma or similarly sized hospital
- 2+ years acute care experience within the last 3 years in the specialty
- Epic EMR experience required, within past 12 months preferred
- Trauma Level I and Level II hospital experience required
- Must pass telemetry exam (adult and pediatric) prior to start with strict passing criteria
- Skilled in IV therapy/infusions, port access and management, chemotherapy administration, and central line care
- Experience recognizing and managing oncologic emergencies (ATLS, anaphylaxis, sepsis, extravasation, hemorrhage)
Additional Information
- Provide direct nursing care to oncology, hematology, and bone marrow transplant patients
- Administer chemotherapy, blood products, and biotherapy while managing associated side effects
- Deliver psychosocial support including patient/family education, symptom management, and hospice care coordination
- Located at a Magnet-designated, nationally ranked teaching hospital
- Must reside within 50 miles of the facility; local candidates not accepted
- First-time travelers will be considered if they have 3+ years of recent Heme/ONC/BMT unit experience
- Charge nurse experience, teaching hospital experience, and LTAC experience preferred but not required
