Description
American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring recent Heme/ONC/BMT experience and a WI or compact RN license at a Level I trauma teaching hospital.
Details
- MS/Tele unit within a Level I trauma teaching hospital
- Patient ratio of 1:3/4
- Day/evening shifts, 12 hours, 0700-1930, every other weekend
- Holiday coverage on a rotating basis
- Floating required as needed
- Uses Epic EMR
Requirements
- Active WI or compact RN license required
- BLS certification required (AHA only)
- 3+ years of recent experience in Heme/ONC/BMT or similar acute care setting at a Level I trauma or comparable size hospital
- 2+ years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in the specialty being applied to
- Epic charting experience required, preferably within the past 12 months
- Chemotherapy certification (ONS/ONCC) preferred
- Skilled in IV therapy, port access/management, and administration of blood products, coagulation factors, and chemotherapy
- Experience managing oncologic emergencies such as tumor lysis syndrome, anaphylaxis, and sepsis
- Experience with bone marrow transplant care including graft-versus-host disease management preferred
- Must pass telemetry exam with strict passing criteria prior to starting assignment
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care for oncology and BMT patients including chemotherapy administration and symptom management
- Deliver psychosocial support including patient/family education, hospice care, and advanced directive discussions
- Care for patients with a wide range of cancer diagnoses including leukemia, lymphoma, breast, lung, and other solid tumors
- Skilled in wound care, tracheostomy management, and central line care preferred
- Located at a Magnet-designated, top-ranked teaching hospital and referral center
- Must reside within 50 miles of the facility; local candidates not accepted
- First-time travelers will be considered if they have three years of recent Heme/ONC/BMT experience
- References are not required for consideration
- Charge nurse, community hospital, LTAC, and teaching hospital experience preferred
