Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a Neuro unit requiring 2 years of experience and a NC or compact RN license.

Details

  • Neuro unit within a Med/Surg setting focused on general medicine with a neurological patient focus
  • Patient ratio of 1:6
  • Night shift schedule (4x12 hours, 18:45-7:15)
  • 36 or 48 hour weekly options accepted
  • Every other weekend requirement (5-6 weekend shifts per schedule)
  • Floating required, with travelers floated first
  • Uses Pyxis, EPIC, and SBAR communication systems
  • Contract staff may be assigned to a Storm Team or Hurricane Team and required to report during catastrophic events or disasters

Requirements

  • Active NC or compact RN license required
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • BLS and ACLS certification required
  • NIHSS certification preferred
  • Neuro experience preferred
  • Prior charge nurse experience or willingness to learn the role preferred
  • Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management preferred
  • Experience with telemetry and MS/Tele settings preferred
  • IV therapy, phlebotomy, and peripheral line management skills required
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Must pass EKG testing prior to start

Additional Information

  • Provide medical-surgical nursing care with an emphasis on neurological patients including CVA cases
  • Use a teamwork approach focused on patient safety
  • 24-hour unit orientation provided
  • Navy blue scrubs required and not provided by facility
  • Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
  • Up to 7 days of RTO may be auto-approved (excluding holidays); no RTO allowed during first week of assignment
  • Previous Novant Health or New Hanover PERM/PRN/EP employees must wait 12 months before applying and disclose prior employment details
  • Travel pairs allowed if placed on different units and disclosed at submission
  • First-time travelers will be considered for this position
  • Local candidates within 50 miles accepted at a lower rate
