Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a CVICU position requiring 2 years of recent CVICU experience and an active NJ or Compact license.

Details

• Academic Level I Trauma Center CVICU caring for cardiac surgery, heart transplant, VAD, TAVR, and ECMO patients
• Night shift, 3x12 hours, 19:00-7:30
• Patient ratios of 1:1 to 1:2+ depending on acuity
• Every other weekend required
• Facility may call off up to 1 shift per 2 weeks
• Must work 1 of 2 or 2 of 3 holidays per unit needs
• Required to float within skillset to all ICUs, PACU ICU holds, ED ICU holds, and Cardiac IMC units
• EPIC charting experience required
• Navy blue scrubs required

Requirements

• Active NJ or Compact RN license required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of recent CVICU experience required; SICU experience considered if initial CVICU training was completed
• Experience with fresh post-op cardiac cases including CABG, MVR, AVR, and TAVR required
• Experience with Impella, IABP, and CRRT using PrisMax required
• Skilled in A-lines, central/PICC lines, IV starts, blood product administration, and IV insulin protocols
• Experience with continuous IV paralytics, sedation, emergency meds, and titrating cardiac/vasoactive drips
• Respiratory skills including chest tube insertion/removal, BiPAP/CPAP, vent management, HFNC, ABGs, and suctioning
• Cardiovascular skills including post-op open heart recovery, temporary pacers, FloTrac/Vigileo monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and 12-lead EKG
• Renal and neurological experience including CRRT/CVVHD, CVA/acute stroke care, hypothermia protocol, and lumbar drains
• Experience managing multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
• Skilled in infection prevention, isolation precautions/PPE, and phlebotomy
• References required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide direct care for fresh post-op cardiac surgery, transplant, VAD, and TAVR patients in a high-acuity ICU setting
• Part of a comprehensive cardiac program recognized as the first in NJ with Joint Commission and AHA Comprehensive Cardiac Center accreditation
• Floating assignments include adjustment of patient ratios based on census and acuity
• Labs must be completed within 48 hours of signing
• Any international work history or permanent residency must be disclosed
• Failing competency exams requires a 6-month break before re-submission
• Previous RWJBH staff (full-time or PRN) must be separated from the health system for at least 1 year before returning for a travel assignment
