Description
American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a Level IV NICU offering advanced ventilation and nitric oxide therapy for critically ill newborns, requiring at least 2 years of recent acute care experience.
Details
- Level IV NICU within a state-designated Regional Perinatal Center at an acute-care teaching hospital
- Night shift, 7p-7a, 3x12 hour shifts
- Every other weekend required as part of primary schedule
- May be required to float within skillset
- No on-call requirement
- Ceil blue scrub color required
- 36-hour contracts only
Requirements
- Active New Jersey Respiratory Care License required at time of consideration (license required if applicable)
- BLS, NRP, PALS, and RRT certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of recent, proficient acute care experience
- Level III NICU experience accepted; Level IV NICU experience preferred
- Experience with Jet/oscillator ventilation and Nitric Oxide (iNO) required
- Experience with high-risk deliveries, neonatal transport, capillary/umbilical blood gases, Bubble CPAP, CPAP/BiPAP, Bivent, IMV/SIMV, and pressure/volume ventilation
- Experience with intubation assist, extubation, and airway management/suctioning
- Experience treating BPD, RDS, RSV, TTN, near drowning, ARDS, aspiration, COVID, cystic fibrosis, fresh tracheostomy care, and pneumonia
- Experience with aerosol therapy delivery systems and a wide range of respiratory medications
- Experience with bag-mask ventilation, ET tube, HFNC, oxygen tanks, T-piece/trach collar, and mechanical ventilation weaning
- Experience with chest physiotherapy, ABG collection/interpretation, bronchoscopy, and pulmonary hygiene
Additional Information
- Provide advanced respiratory care to critically ill and medically complex newborns in a high-acuity NICU setting
- Support high-risk deliveries and neonatal transports as part of the care team
- First-time travelers will be considered
- Reduced pay rate applies to candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility
- Up to 5 days of RTO may be requested and must be approved by the facility at time of consideration
- Travel pairs will not be accepted
- Former permanent employees of the facility are not eligible
