Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN for a Level 2 trauma program with a diverse surgical caseload and rotating call responsibilities.

Details

• Operating room setting within a Level 2 trauma program treating patients from infants to geriatrics
• 10 OR rooms with an average daily census of 32
• Diverse case mix including trauma, general surgery, orthopedics, ENT, GYN/GYN oncology, eye surgery, and vascular cases in a hybrid room
• Da Vinci robotic surgery capability
• No open-heart or organ transplant procedures performed
• Day shift schedule, 4x10-hour shifts from 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM
• Every third weekend required unless otherwise specified
• Floating required within facility and scope of practice as needed
• On-call approximately 7 days per month including one rotating weekend and holiday rotation
• Call typically begins at shift end, with 24-hour call required on weekends
• Three tiers of call indicating likelihood of being called in
• Uses Epic, Pyxis, and SBAR systems

Requirements

• Active GA or Compact RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certification required; PALS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of OR nursing experience required
• First-time travelers accepted
• Trauma Level I or II experience preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Experience with a variety of surgical specialties preferred, though not all procedures required
• 1:1 patient ratio experience

Additional Information

• Provide perioperative nursing care across a wide range of surgical specialties
• Scrubs provided by the facility
• Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, must be finalized at time of submission
• No RTO requests permitted during orientation week or after offer/onsite
• Holiday coverage required per major holiday policy: work 1-2 holidays with no RTO, or 2 of 3 holidays if three fall within assignment
• Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, and New Year's Eve/Day
• Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
• Prior Piedmont employees (perm/per diem/FCSS) must be separated from all Piedmont facilities for one full year before applying as a traveler
• Travelers previously cancelled or DNR'd by a Piedmont facility must complete one assignment outside Piedmont before reapplying
• Full compliance required to start on time; non-compliance may delay start by two weeks due to biweekly orientation scheduling
• No alternate shift or schedule requests permitted
• Travel pairs cannot be assigned to the same shift on the same unit
