Description
American Traveler is seeking a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU)/Neuroscience Intermediate Care position requiring PCU or Stepdown experience and ventilator management skills on night shift.
Details
- Work in a 36-bed Neuroscience/High-Risk Respiratory intermediate care unit
- Mixed acuity med-surg/intermediate care unit currently supporting high-risk respiratory and COVID patients
- Patient population includes CVA, TIA, seizure, and other neurological diagnoses
- Targeted patient ratios of 1:4-6
- Unit may use a team nursing model with RNs, LPNs, and PCTs partnering to care for patient groups
- Night shift schedule, 4x12 hours, 19:00-7:30
- Uses heated high flow nasal cannula and BiPAP equipment
- Epic EMR experience required
- Floating required at facility discretion, including to Neuro ICU and other Premier Health campuses within a 15-mile radius
- Required to work every other weekend and every other holiday
- Navy blue scrubs required
Requirements
- Active OH or compact RN license required
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required; IV Start certification preferred
- Minimum 1.5 years of RN experience required
- PCU or Stepdown unit experience required; ICU experience does not qualify
- Ventilator management experience required
- Must pass an online EKG/telemetry competency assessment prior to starting the assignment
- Epic charting experience required
- Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
- No candidates with past license disciplinary action will be accepted
Additional Information
- Provide skilled nursing care to a diverse neuroscience and high-risk respiratory patient population
- May be assigned a buddy and float to support the Neuro ICU care team as needed
- Facility may cancel up to 2 shifts per 13-week contract due to low census
- Maximum of 14 days RTO allowed per contract, must be requested at time of submission with no changes after offer
- Local candidates within a 50-mile radius are not accepted
- Previous PERM/PRN Premier Health employees or agency staff not extended due to tenure must wait 6 months before applying as a traveler and require facility rehire approval
- Travelers are not eligible for Premier Health employee incentives
