Description
American Traveler is seeking an Endoscopy RN with required ICU/critical care experience and an active NY RN license for a 12-week hospital-based GI procedural unit assignment.
Details
- Hospital-based Endoscopy/GI procedural unit supporting Pre-Procedure/Prep, Intra-Procedure, and PACU/Recovery areas
- Cares for adult and pediatric outpatient and hospitalized patients undergoing diagnostic, therapeutic, and advanced endoscopic procedures
- Unit has 6 procedure rooms and 15 beds with an average daily census of 33 and 5 visits per day
- Staffing ratio of 1:2
- Uses Omnicell medication system and SBAR communication
- Performs procedures including ERCP, EUS, ESD, POEM, EMR, complex polypectomy, EGD, colonoscopy, and bronchoscopy
- Supports general anesthesia and monitored anesthesia care (MAC) cases
- Day shift schedule, 5x7.5-hour shifts, 6:30 AM-2:30 PM
- No weekend requirement
- Floating required
- EPIC charting experience preferred but not required
Requirements
- Active NY RN license required
- Current BLS, ACLS certifications required; PALS preferred
- Minimum 1-2 years of Endoscopy/GI experience required
- ICU/critical care experience required to support both Prep and PACU areas
- Required patient ratio experience of 1:3
- Skilled in airway management, IV insertion and maintenance, and recovery from conscious sedation
- Experience administering and monitoring conscious sedation
- Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Emergency response skills required
- Experience with specimen handling and labeling
- Experience circulating for bronchoscopy, colonoscopy, and EGD procedures
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Pediatric experience preferred but not required
- Two professional managerial references required (Charge RN references not accepted)
- COVID vaccine required with no exceptions
Additional Information
- Provide nursing care across Pre-Procedure/Prep, Intra-Procedure, and PACU/Recovery areas for a high-volume procedural unit
- Work alongside Nurse Practitioners, CRNAs, Hospitalists, Anesthesiologists, Pharmacy, Rapid Response Teams, Interpretation Services, Transportation, and Unit Secretary support
- 22.5 hours of orientation provided
- First-time travelers not accepted
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate
- RTO of 5 days or less permitted, with no RTO allowed within the first 2 weeks of assignment
- Former NYU permanent staff must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
