Description
American Traveler is hiring a Travel RN for a Detox/ER unit requiring TN or compact RN licensure and prior detox or emergency department experience.
Details
- Detox unit within a 95-bed acute care hospital, ER experience also considered
- 13-bed unit caring for patients ages 18 to geriatric, occasionally including 17-year-olds
- Patient ratio of 1:7
- Common diagnoses include substance abuse, polysubstance abuse, ETOH withdrawal, and related behavioral and medical conditions
- Treatments include valium tapers, subutex, vivitrol, banana bags, and rescue medications
- Uses IV pumps, Zoll monitors, and IV catheters
- Charts in HMS/Medhost EHR
- Shift runs 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
- Every other weekend required, plus as needed
- No call requirements
- May be required to float to other departments as needed but not standard
Requirements
- Active RN license (TN or Compact) required
- BLS, ALS, and PALS certifications required prior to start
- Handle With Care certification required after hire
- Minimum 3+ years of RN experience required, 5+ years preferred
- ASN required at minimum
- Experience with CIWA/COWS preferred
- Skilled in IV access and bedside shift report
- Experience assisting with bedside procedures such as PICC lines/midlines preferred
- Must pass Tennessee Abuse Registry check prior to assignment start
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care to detox patients across a wide age range
- Assist with bedside procedures and medication administration as needed
- Participate in bedside shift report, briefs, debriefs, and unit checks
- Complete required education expectations during the course of the contract
- Team includes a Unit Director and Clinical Nurse Coordinator for support
- Scrubs may be any solid color; hoodies, open-toed shoes, and unauthorized logos are not permitted
- No jewelry or items that pose a safety risk allowed
- Must reside 60 miles or greater from the facility to qualify for travel rate
- Cannot have worked as permanent staff at any LifePoint facility within the past 12 months
- Cannot be employed elsewhere full-time while on assignment
