Description

American Traveler is hiring a PACU RN with at least 2 years of Phase I/Phase II experience and CAPA or CPAN certification for an evening shift assignment.

Details

  • Perianesthesia unit spanning Main PACU (33 pre/post rooms, 10 Phase I bays) and East PACU (33 pre/post rooms, 17 Phase I bays)
  • Combined average of 60-80 patients per day across both PACUs
  • Inpatient, outpatient, and observation cases for pediatric and adult patients
  • Cases include general, plastics, urology, GI, bariatrics, GYN, minor vascular, neurosurgery, robotics, ophthalmology, ortho, cardiothoracic, ENT, endovascular, fistulas, bronchs, post-cath, and post-IR/Neuro IR
  • Patient ratios: 1:3 pre-op, 1:2 Phase I, 1:3 Phase II
  • 8-hour evening shift, 1100-1930, Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week
  • No weekend rotation, on-call, or holiday requirements
  • Regular floating required between Phase I and Phase II recovery across Main and East PACU
  • EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Pyxis medication dispensing system used

Requirements

  • Active WI or compact RN license required
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification required
  • CAPA or CPAN certification required (either accepted)
  • Minimum 2 years of Phase I/Phase II PACU experience required
  • Experience reading and interpreting cardiac rhythms and managing cardiac drips required
  • Experience providing discharge instructions required
  • Experience with art lines, TR bands, chest tubes, and CBI required
  • EPIC EMR experience required
  • Experience recovering post-cath, bronch, and IR patients highly preferred
  • At least one professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN required

Additional Information

  • Work in both Phase I and Phase II recovery settings, providing perianesthesia nursing care
  • Support from Charge RN, unit management, CNA/LPN staff, 24/7 hospitalist and RT coverage, and anesthesiologists/CRNAs
  • Facility is a Level II Trauma Center, Level III NICU, Level III Maternity Center, and Primary Stroke Center
  • Orientation includes NEO and 2 8-hour shifts in the department
  • Scrubs must be any solid, professional color without logos, graphics, or designs
  • Free parking available on-site
  • Maximum of 4 days RTO approved
  • First-time travelers considered only with extensive PACU experience
  • Candidates who were previously staff at this facility's PACU will not be accepted
  • Former employees of the health system or its subsidiaries must be separated for at least 12 months before eligibility
  • Local candidates accepted at the same rate with no radius restrictions
