Description
American Traveler is seeking an Operating Room RN for a day shift position requiring AK RN licensure, ACLS/BLS certification, and at least 1 year of OR experience.
Details
- Acute care medical center with an attached long-term care facility and outpatient services
- Level IV Trauma, Critical Access Hospital setting
- Operating Room unit supporting general surgery, thoracic, orthopedic, and urology cases
- Day shift schedule, 5x8 hours (7:00 AM - 3:30 PM)
- On-call responsibilities required
- Weekend coverage is on-call basis only
- No floating required within the OR unit, though floating between sister facilities in the state may be expected
- Uses Epic charting system
- Cell saver equipment used
- Open to accommodating block scheduling requests
Requirements
- Active AK RN license required
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum of 1 year of Operating Room experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Experience with thoracic procedures including lobe resection, lung resection, and thoracotomy
- Experience with general surgery procedures including appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, hernia repair, laparoscopic procedures, and thyroidectomy
- Experience with orthopedic procedures including arthroscopy, fracture reductions, laminectomy/discectomy, spinal fusion, and total joint replacement
- Experience with urology procedures including cystoscopy, laparoscopic cases, nephrectomy, prostatectomy, and TURP
- Knowledge of emergency management, fire safety, infection control, laser safety, radiation safety, and universal protocol/time-out procedures
- Experience with specimen handling/labeling, wound management, and administration of blood and blood products
- Full SSN and DOB required for consideration
- Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting required
Additional Information
- Provide perioperative nursing care across a variety of surgical specialties including general surgery, thoracic, orthopedic, and urology procedures
- Scrub color is any or business casual attire
- Free parking available
- Facility provides housing (typically 1-bedroom apartments) during the assignment; pets not allowed and additional family members are not typically accommodated
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be considered, though local candidates may be accepted at a lower bill rate
- Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a travel employee and cannot reside within 50 miles of the facility
- RTO requests are considered based upon request but should be submitted upfront to avoid delays
- Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
- Travelers may be expected to float between sister facilities within the state; refusal to float may impact assignment continuation
