Description

American Traveler is hiring a Neuro Stepdown RN with stepdown experience for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke certification.

Details

• Neuro Stepdown unit within a hospital setting (30 beds: 22 Acute Care, 8 Stepdown)
• Patient ratios of 6:1 on Acute Care and 4:1 on Neuro Stepdown
• Unit staffed with 1 charge RN over the tower, 1-2 techs, and a unit secretary
• Uses equipment including vital sign machines, high flow oxygen, chest tubes, suction, various drips, Vapotherm, Bipap, trach care, and titrating cardiac drips
• Documentation completed in Meditech
• Night shift schedule from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Weekend shifts required
• Floating required for experienced nurses after orientation
• Common procedures on the unit include lumbar puncture and chest tube placement

Requirements

• Active RN license (TN or Compact) required
• BLS certification required for all staff; ACLS required for Neuro Stepdown
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Stepdown or PCU experience strongly preferred
• Strong acute care nursing skills and time management required
• Strong critical thinking skills required
• US Social Security Number and date of birth required for consideration
• No employment gaps of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

• Provide direct patient care including bedside shift report, personal connection, and daily huddle participation
• Unit dress code includes black, any shade of blue or grey scrubs, with any color permitted on Fridays
• Unit offers ICARE recognition, shout-out board, and employee of the month awards
• Considered a strong starting unit for nurses aspiring to move into ICU
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; no local candidates accepted
